Torres: "We hope to win and secure the third place"
Fernando Torres has participated in Mahou Five Star’s new campaign together with Dani Martín, Alejandro Sanz, Nerea Barros, Inma Cuesta, Michelle Jenner and Javier Cámara among others.
Torres spoke of Sunday’s important match against Barcelona. At the prospect of Barcelona becoming champions on Sunday, he was categorical in noting that, "we hope to win the match and secure that third place. But football is like that. Atlético became champion last year at the Camp Nou, and as football and fate would have it, Barcelona has the possibility of becoming champion on our field. But that does not tell us anything because we are fighting a different war, to win to be third and achieve the objective we need."
Regarding the strengths that Atlético de Madrid can use to beat Barcelona said that, "it is very difficult to find a specific formula. We have our approach to the match with which we believe we can win, but there are many other factors to take into account. Barcelona has players of an exceptional level, who are at a great moment, finishing the season fired up in very important matches. For sure, it will be a long match for us, in which we will suffer a lot and we hope that the joy is at the end."
He was asked a mark for the season, although he will only have played half a campaign with the team. He concluded by stating that, "the Club has shown in the last four or five years that the progression is constant. There is an evolution of that Atleti that stays between the teams that compete in Europe. It went from being out of Europe to always being there, an uncomfortable team against which nobody wants to play. It is a true rival in the League, and is especially seen as such by Real Madrid and Barcelona. That should be maintained, and if you maintain it you have options to win again or maybe win more than one consecutive year, or compete in the Champions or in every competition it takes part in. So one can think it is a good season. Could it be better? Always. But I think people are happy and the fans are happy because they have seen the team give their all, which is what is requested. Now, there are goals to achieve for the coming year, which is also something positive.
