Our team started the second round of the Championship in the best possible way. The red and whites added three very important points against Rayo Vallecano in the 20th round of the League to reach 44.

The match began with a very serious Atlético on the field. At 12 minutes, a great retrieved ball when Griezmann was pressuring was taken advantage of by the same French attacker to beat Toño with a low shot in the dogfight and score the first goal of the game. Griezmann also took advantage of a glancing header from Mandzukic to score the second goal. Nearing the halftime, Rayo Vallecano got their heads into the match thanks to a shot by Trashorras from the front of the box.

The second half started with a very energetic Atlético, which didn’t take long to warn with a great shot of Griezmann that came very close to beating Toño. On 56 minutes, a corner bounced by number '7' was pushed into his own goal by Manucho when Gimenez was trying to shoot with all his might. From there, Simeone’s team maintained the result without suffering too much. When the match was almost over, on 88 minutes, Griezmann would come close to a hat trick after crashing his shot on the wood.
