Atlético de Madrid became the Spanish Super Cup Champion after winning 1-0 at the Vicente Calderon with a goal from Mario Mandžukić.

A goal by Mandžukić tilted the second leg match of Super Cup full of intensity and emotion until the last moment. After the 1-1 from the first leg, the Croatian’s goal gave our team the second Spanish Super Cup of our history.
Simeone’s players had an overwhelming start and sought to pierce the visitors’ goal from the outset. On 2 minutes, in the second time our team had reached the box, Griezmann headed a throw-in from Moyá and Mandžukić took advantage of the lose ball on the front to shoot at Casillas with a huge right-foot kick that set 1-0 on the scoreboard.
The fight and the intensity of the beginning continued in high levels throughout the first half. The visitors tried to equalize the game and had several chances but first Moyá, with a spectacular save of a left-foot kick from James, and then Atlético’s defenders ruined the rival’s opportunities, showing once again that our team has a great defensive strength.
In the second half, our guys took the field with the same intensity as at the beginning of the game and on 48 minutes Siqueira bounced a foul that was shot by Raúl García to the crossbar. In Casillas’ subsequent save he cleared the ball when Mandžukić was about to head the ball in. Minutes later, Raúl García had a new chance to beat Casillas but his shot from the corner of the box went wide very close to the post.
In the last minutes of the match, Real Madrid looked for their forwards to shoot long but they clashed again and again against a team who fought with courage and heart thanks to fans who cheered their team the whole time.
