Siqueira will be presented this Wednesday at the Calderón

Guilherme Siqueira will be presented on Wednesday, June 11th, as a new Atlético player in an event that will take place - from 17:00 - in the VIP lounge of the Vicente Calderón Stadium.

The defence, who’s signed a four-year contract, comes to our club after the transfer agreement reached with Granada once the Brazilian passed the medical examinations, which he underwent at the Fremap clinics in Las Rozas and Majadahonda.

The left-back was born in Florianópolis, in the South-East of Brazil, on April 28th, 1986. He was trained in the ranks of the Ipatinga, club with which he made his debut in 2002 in the Brazilian Championship. The new Atlético defence made the leap to Europe in 2004 when he was signed by Inter Milan. In 2006, he ended up in the Udinese where he began to show his quality. There he played for two seasons, in which he completed 26 games.

In the following season, the 2008-2009, he was loaned to Us Ancona, that was playing the Italian B Series. Thanks to the great role he played, the Udinese reclaimed him for the following season. In the summer of 2010, he was loaned to Granada CF. There he played 35 matches and was one of the pillars for the Andalusian team’s promotion to first Division. The two following seasons he played in the Nasrid team, where he improved his debut campaign’s records. He scored 14 goals in the 73 games he played in the First Division and turned out to be one of the most reliable left-backs in the League.

During the last campaign, the 2013-2014 season, Siqueira played in SL Benfica. In the Portuguese club, he played 33 matches and helped the Lisbon team  win the League, the Cup and the League Cup. At the same time, he had an important role in the UEFA Europa League, where he participated in seven fixtures, including the final.
