ATLÉTICO’S MANAGER ASSESSED THE IMPORTANCE OF PLAYING FOR THE TITLE

Simeone: "When you're persistent on what you believe in, you can"

Diego Pablo Simeone noted, in the press conference prior to the final, that it is not easy to reach a Champions League final twice in three years and that the key is the insistence to achieve the goal.

In terms of how he feels about the match, he said, "I expect a very intense match at the start and very balanced."

Regarding the key to play two Champions finals in three years, he said, "The club, the players, and the base that has been with us for four and a half years, manages to reinvent constantly. There are possibly 10 players different from those who were in the final the last chance we had and I think that it is the most valuable thing that this team has. We work to continue growing, keep improving, keep insisting... I think that like everything in life, in the long run, chances arise for those who insist.

He also said that, "Playing a final is something fantastic, winning it is supreme. And everything that involves reaching a final presents you with an experience and the situation to continue preparing to live with those moments. It is not easy, you have to work and as I have said, the best thing is to insist, prepare again, get up, go back to work, reinvent yourself, don’t change the structure or the system, don’t change the identity or the commitment... When you're persistent on what you believe in, you can."

To finish, he said, "Nothing makes me happy other than winning."
