BEFORE VISITING THE COLISEUM

Simeone: "We’re focused solely on Getafe"

The Argentinian Coach trusts he can maintain the philosophy that’s brought the team to where they are and emphasised the importance of focusing solely on the blue team’s fixture to deliver the best possible response.

Diego Pablo Simeone appeared before the media after this Saturday’s training session in Majadahonda, claiming to have lived a very beautiful week but admitting they have to keep looking forward, "We’re competing very well in the League. I always said that the League is important to us and tomorrow we have an important match with an opponent that has needs, and we know they always fight hard when playing against us. We’re solely focused on what the fixture entails and we hope to respond the same way".

In the midst of the fight to avoid descending, tomorrow’s rival promises to make things difficult to Simeone’s players. "Tomorrow’s fixture is hard because of the needs that Getafe has. It produces anxiety, motivation to play against us and I picture a dangerous rival with a good set-piece and good attacking chances with Sarabia, Castro, Lafito or Pedro León. They have plenty of variations and they’re always dangerous at home. What’s really important is how we are ourselves because we don’t depend on anybody, only on the effort and work we make. Hopefully we can see a competitive team, knowing the importance of the match", the coach assured.

We’ll speak with Costa and tomorrow we'll decide on the line-up

With only six rounds to go for the end and looking down from the top of the table, the team must stay on the path that’s taken them to lead the table and one of Europe’s best four teams. "The League advances and we’re in a nice position, but to maintain today’s chances, tomorrow’s match has to be great. Time is running out and you have to know hoy to play with that, but it’ll depend on how we deliver as a team. We’ve had four days to recover and tomorrow we’ll see if we rotate or not. Today, more than ever, we live match-by-match. It’s important to isolate the outside and feel and live what’s really going on. There are four Spanish teams in European semi-finals and being first is a source of pride, it motivates and strengthens us. Tomorrow we’ll have to make an effort and run again", indicated Simeone.

Regarding this Friday’s Champions draw that paired us to Chelsea, the Argentinian pointed out, "They’re a very difficult rival. They won the Champions not long ago and have many players from then improved by new guys with a competent coach and a wonderful atmosphere to play in. It will be an even and important qualifying round for football attraction", he concluded.
