Diego Pablo Simeone analysed the game against Villarreal at the Estadio de la Cerámica, claiming that both teams could have won the match.
"It was a tough and intense game. We played against a strong team. We tried to play hard in the first half to counter their need for the win. In the second half, we understood that we could try to be more offensive in order to exploit the spaces they left. We scored a goal and then they equalised. In the end they could have scored the second and so could we with Lemar's chance," Simeone said.
Our coach talked about the difficulty of the current LaLiga season.
"We've earned a point against a tough rival. LaLiga is really interesting at the moment. It's the first time I see every team competing against each other in the league. This makes LaLiga much more competitive," Simeone said.
Our players Koke, Giménez and tonight's goalscorer Filipe Luis also shared their thoughts on the 1-1 draw.
"We knew perfectly well how the game was going to be, it's a difficult stadium and we knew it would be tough," the Brazilian said.
Koke claimed that the team would keep working hard, while Giménez spoke about the difficulties of playing at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
"Villarreal are very strong at their stadium. They're a great team. We played a great game," the Uruguayan defender said.
