WHAT REALY GIVES US A CHANCE IS GOING GAME BY GAME"

Simeone: "We must work as a team”

The Atletico coach came to the press room at the Vicente Calderón Stadium in the pre-match against Barcelona to discuss the meeting between the top two in the league.

Diego Pablo Simeone began his appearance recalling that "we are talking about a very important league game, but it remains a league match, not a final. They have a great squad, with large variations. We try to play our game and improve with what we’ve got."

Simeone reviewed the story of the team so far this season and stressed that "there are tough games that we get on with the job. We have dropped important points have drawn in the cup, but we have a huge game, and a nice game with all the expectations created".

The Argentine does not forget the philosophy that he has instilled in his players. "I have thought the same thing since I arrived as coach and since I started to play at Atletico Madrid. The reality is that it gives us the chance to match ups and more at this time. It depends on us more than ever and we must reinforce this thought. The argument we have is that we keep alive going game by game."

Finally, he commented that "tomorrow's game is a different game from the player's in term of the motivation they usually have. We accept the reality, they have better players, but we are committed to the team. In that game we feel strong. That's one of the possibilities that bring us to compete tomorrow." In conclusion, Simeone recognised that to achieve a good result they will have to ill be to play "similar to the Super Cup, our team better occupying the spaces so that they do not have space to play in."
