Simeone: "The team looked to win the game"
The Argentine believes his team had the right attitude on the field to have taken all three points but not the wisdom necessary have to settle for a draw against a team in need of points.
Diego Pablo Simeone appeared for the last time this season in the press room at the Vicente Calderon and praised his group of players in a difficult week after the Cup final and the trip to Singapore. They went out to win the match against Mallorca despite having already fulfilled all their objectives. "It's not easy to play a game under these circumstances but we were confident that the players would show the responsibility they have always shown. Beyond having more or less the intensity the team looked to win the game. We could not win but we played with intension," said the coach.
Asked about the team's trip to Singapore with the competition still in play, Simeone said that it speaks highly of the players effort in the afternoon after a long journey. "These are commitments that must be carried out for the good of the squad. Physically everyone responded very well and that speaks highly of the players after the difficult week," he said.
The first change that the Argentine was to introduce the Óliver, who enjoyed some good minutes on the Calderon. "He was pretty good. At the end of the game had to do a job that he is not used to alongside Mario in the middle. He gave the team and overall vitality and freshness. Next year will have to go with the national team, then he will have to keep improving and earning a place as he has done until now.
