The demanding season leaves almost no room to enjoy the victory at the Bernabeu, a triumph that adds three more points to give Atletico the best league start in the 110 year history of the club. During Sunday there was no time to enjoy the 0-1 win in the derby as the players began work preparing for the next game.

The meeting in Portugal, to be played on Tuesday at 20:45 in the Dragão Stadium, is the second game for Atletico in the group stage of the continental competition, the first saw them claim victory against the Zenit (3-1) at the Calderon. The team will travel this Monday lunchtime on a chartered flight to Port in time for the official training session taking place in the stadium.

The training session on Sunday was devoted recovery after the effort the team displayed at the Bernabeu. It was conducted between the gym and field 1 in Majadahonda Sports City. The starters against Madrid began in the weight room and after 25 minutes they continued the work on the lawn to complete the 45 minutes of work. Diego Godin was the only one from the eleven absence. The Uruguayan center underwent medical tests on Sunday after he suffered a slight sprain in his left knee that will not prevent him traveling to Porto.

Players who were not part of the starting line up trained on field 1 for about an hour and 50 minutes. Simeone designed a training in which he mixed fitness with ball work and pressure and in tight spaces. The technician finished the job with a small game which incorporated four youth teamers.

After the training session, the Argentine confirmed the list of 20 players to travel to Porto on Monday.

Adrian also went for a check up on Sunday after the operation on the face. The Spaniard is progressing well after undergoing surgery.
