Simeone: "Lleida started off strongly, but we reacted well"
Diego Pablo Simeone analyzed our win against Lleida.
After our win against Lleida in the first leg of the Round of 16 of the Copa del Rey, Diego Pablo Simeone spoke to the press.
“I think the team reacted well to Lleida’s great first 20 minutes,” Simeone said. “Lleida had a great first half and started off strongly, but we reacted well and adapted our play.”
Fernando Torres is our top goalscorer in the Copa del Rey with three goals and our coach is pleased with how his goal came about in tonight’s match.
“In the first half, Fernando Torres and Kevin Gameiro played well and Torres’ goal was a good one, a great play.”
Simeone was proud of what he saw in Lleida and said the competition in the squad is a good thing.
“We have lots of competition in the squad. Some players will go from the stands to the pitch,” he said. “That shouldn’t surprise anyone.”
