Simeone and Oblak received the Michael Muñoz and Zamora awards
Our manager and player were recognized in the MARCA awards gala for their achievements in the 2015/2016 season.
Diego Pablo Simeone and Jan Oblak have been awarded this Monday with the Miguel Muñoz and Zamora awards, which recognize the work of both in LaLiga's last season. The MARCA awards gala was held at the Florida Retiro. Our goalkeeper, who could not be there because he was called by Slovenia’s national team, sent a video with his thanks.
The Argentinian manager received his second Miguel Muñoz award, after the one he won in the 2013/2014 season, in which our club won LaLiga. Simeone was recognized as the best coach of LaLiga last season, in which the red and white squad reached the second best score of our history (88 points).
Our goalkeeper matched the record of the least scored keeper in a season from Paco Liaño (1993-1994 season). The Slovenian, who played all the minutes of the season, conceded 18 goals in 38 League matches, which meant an average of 0,47 goals per game. In addition, the Atlético player kept a clean sheet 24 times.
