Reyes: 'We have to go out focused and not concede an early goal”

“I feel very comfortable playing as the second striker”

José Antonio Reyes is aware that the ‘rojiblanco’ side can’t lose any more points if they want to earn a spot in European competitions. Osasuna awaits them on Sunday and the winger from Seville is clear that it’s a very important match. It’s true that I’m in good form, but the important thing is the team and I hope that we earn the three points.”

The midfielder could move up his position on the pitch and play in the spot where Kun Agüero usually plays in the ‘rojiblanco’ attack. 'I’ve always said that I’m very comfortable playing as second striker. I always played that position at Sevilla, and if the gaffer decides to put me there I’ll try to help the team in its goal to win the three points, although right now Kun is a crucial player in the squad,” he assured.

Regarding the visit to the Reyno de Navarra, Reyes knows that “it’s not going to be an easy match, but there are no easy opponents in the First Division; everyone is tough. We have to go with our weapons in order to try and earn the points so we can qualify for Europe. We have the team to do so, but we have to give 100%  in every contest we have left to finish up La Liga.”

Osasuna’s home stadium usually gives Atlético de Madrid fits. Reyes believes that one of the keys lies in coming out focused in the opening minutes and not conceding any goals. I don’t know what it could be that happens to the team on that pitch, but we hope to break the negative streak on Sunday.”

To finish, Reyes analyzed the days off enjoyed by the team and said that “resting and disconnecting is important so you can spend time with your family. The vacation was really good for the squad so we can go into the home stretch of the season in top form.”
