Open letter from the club's CEO to the members

Dear member:

72 hours ago the club issued a statement, in which we announced, at the request of the Social Committee, the launch of a consultation to find out how many members wanted us to consider changing the current badge and returning to the previous one.

When we decided to create this Social Committee, where different ways of living and feeling our club are represented, we did so with the aim of having a complementary, even alternative, vision to that of those of us who work daily in the company that manages and oversees the club. The idea was to be able to clearly differentiate those aspects of society from those aspects that are specific to the club: feelings, bonds, symbology, values and signs of identity.

As the statement pointed out, over the last few years we have made important and risky decisions such as changing the stadium, changing the badge, investing in Academy venues, Atleti franchises outside our territory and now a new sports and leisure city around the stadium, as well as hiring coaches and players to help the team compete at the highest level.

Obviously all of them are designed to make us a bigger, more global club, with facilities that allow us to offer more and better products, services and experiences to our fans, as well as having football teams we can be proud of.

I would like to highlight the fact that we have been able to carry out this consultation without incident and I would like to thank you all for your cooperation in making this possible.

After verifying the result, in which almost half of our social mass (61,021 members, which represents 44% of the 138,477 members of the club) have expressed their will for the club to consider the change, we will convene a Board of Directors as soon as possible in order to agree to launch a binding vote in which you can choose between keeping the current coat of arms or reintroducing the previous one.

In case your decision is to return to the previous badge, I commit myself to make the change as soon as possible, obviously respecting the limitations of our sponsorship and licensing contracts.

With the sincere hope and desire that the step we are taking will help all of us who make up this wonderful Atleti family to remain united, I send you my warmest regards.

Miguel Ángel Gil
CEO
