WITH 304 GAMES

Oblak becomes goalkeeper with most appearances in Atleti history

The Slovenian made history during Sunday’s match at Celta, when he surpassed club legend Abel Resino.

Jan Oblak on Sunday became the goalkeeper with the most appearances in Atlético de Madrid’s history (304). The Slovenian surpassed previous record holder Abel Resino, who played 303 games for our club.

Since his arrival in 2014, the Slovenian has won the Spanish Super Cup, the Europa League, the UEFA Super Cup and LaLiga. In the meantime, he has become one of the world’s best goalkeepers. In 2019, the 28-year-old signed a contract extension with Atleti and became the club’s second captain.

Oblak made the UEFA Champions League Team of the Year in the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons and the UEFA Europa League Best XI in 2017/18. He has also won five Zamora trophies (2015/16, 2016/17, 2017/18, 2018/19 and 2020/21).

Moreover, on June 17, 2020, the Slovenian kept his 100th LaLiga clean sheet after just 182 games – less than any other goalkeeper in the history of the competition.

Congratulations, Jan!
