Mr. Miguel Ángel Gil: “The chapter of arrivals and departures is completely closed”
“Quique S. Flores will continue until the end of the season”
The Managing Director of Club Atlético de Madrid, Mr. Miguel Ángel Gil, attended the first squad training session at the Majadahonda Sports Complex and, after his visit, kindly attended to the media present. The main director, who labelled the athletic situation of the club right now as poor, assured that “we had been improving decently the past few years, competing in European competitions and winning two out of three finals, but this year we’re coming up a very short.

“I’m sure that because of the relationship that this front office has with Florentino Pérez, Real Madrid won’t pay the clause for any of our players and we won’t sit down to negotiate this summer for Agüero,” he emphasized.
Mr. Miguel Ángel Gil also wanted to clear up, in statements to the Club’s official web page, that “we’ve received two offers in the last week, one from Real Madrid for Kun Agüero of 45 million Euros and another from Chelsea for Kun Agüero and Godín of 60. Atlético de Madrid said no to both of those offers because it believes in those players and believes in the project that we’re doing. We’re all hurt by the situation the team is going through, but we have to get through it all together. These players are those that made us laugh and enjoy last season by winning titles and we also have to be able to take the difficult moments now.'
To finish, he highlighted the goal of the season: “Because of the quality, budget and other factors, it’s inadmissible for this squad not to finish La Liga amongst the top four. It’s going to be tough, but it’s in the players’ hands to accomplish that and we also have to help them.”
