Miguel Ángel Gil visited the first team in their concentration
The club’s CEO had dinner with the team in Los Ángeles de San Rafael (Segovia) and later held a meeting with the whole group.
Miguel Ángel Gil, our club’s CEO, visited on the night of Thursday, the 13th of July, the team’s concentration hotel in Los Ángeles de San Rafael, where he had dinner with the group and, later held a meeting with the entire coaching staff, the players and the assistants who are a part of the first team.
During the meeting, Atlético de Madrid’s CEO revised the objectives of the season that starts, a very special year thanks to the opening of the Wanda Metropolitano, and explained the reorganisation of the organisational chart in the area of professional football. Andrea Berta assumes, starting this season, the position of our club’s sports director. For his part, José Luis Pérez Caminero will be the first team’s coordinator.
Atlético’s CEO announced that Tiago Mendes, who accompanied him in his visit, will continue to be connected to our club as assistant of the coaching staff.
Gil Marín also used the meeting to present doctor Óscar Luis Celada to the group, who joins as doctor of the first team.
The area of professional football that Andrea Berta directs presents five blocks. The first one is formed by the coaching staff led by our manager Diego Pablo Simeone, which also includes Germán Burgos, as the assistant coach; Óscar Ortega, fitness coach; and Pablo Vercellone, goalkeeping coach.
The assistants of the coaching staff make up the second block with Juan Vizcaíno, Tiago Mendes, Carlos Menéndez and Iván Díaz.
A third area will be directed by José Luis Pérez Caminero, the sports director until now and, starting this season, responsible for the first team’s coordination. Caminero will coordinate the medical services, the team of physical therapists, logistics, trips, etc.
Atlético de Madrid B, which was a part of the structure of the club’s Academy until now, will become a part of this area of professional football and the person in charge of its management will be Carlos Aguilera, the sports director of the Academy until now.
Finally, a fifth block will be made up by the people in charge of scouting and analysis.
