With almost no occasions, Friku on one side and Anelka were the only ones who seemed capable of breaking the tie. On minute 39, Ralte opened the scoreboard after a good local play. The first half ended with 1-0.

The second part began with an intense siege of Atlético de Kolkata. Antonio López's relentlessly sought the goal, and after a good foul shot from Josemi crashing on the post, Sahni managed to equalize on minute 60.

The visitors dominated the match and the comeback seemed close, but Friedrich made the best of a good set piece cross to head a tempered ball into the net. The 2-1 sat was a heavy blow for the Kolkata, which will have to wait until the last round to try to qualify.
