Koke: 'We have to be strong at home and beat Levante”
The central midfielder doesn’t think he’ll be able to play on Sunday
Koke has Little-by-little won a spot in the first squad. He began the season in the reserves, but his solid performances have made Quique Sanchez Flores pay attention to him and give him a chance in the starting line-up. The young home-grown talent hasn’t wasted his opportunities and has been a starter for several weeks. An unfortunate injury in the last match against Espanyol will most likely keep him out of the starting eleven against Levante. The player stated at his press conference after the team’s training on Friday that “I’m better, but I still have some pain. I won’t be able to play this Sunday barring a miracle. I hope to be fit for the game against Deportivo. An injury is never good. I was in good form, but I have to take this calmly.
“I hadn’t imagined having the season that I'm having; I’m very pleased. The season isn’t over and when I get better from this injury I hope to continue playing well and enjoying the confidence of the coach,” he asserted.
Regarding Sunday’s opponent, Levante, Koke said that “it’s going to be a tough match, as they’re coming off a good run. We have to be strong at home and win the game. You can’t get overconfident against Levante. They don’t have anything on the line and will try to finish as high up in the table as they can.”
The footballer sent a message of optimism to the fans and assured that “we’re on a good streak, as we’ve only lost one out of the last nine games. We have to continue along this line. Champions League is very far away. We have to go for Europa League and then we’ll see what happens. We have to take things game-by-game.”
