Jesús Gámez, Atlético de Madrid’s new player, has been presented in the VIP Lounge of the Vicente Calderon Stadium. Enrique Cerezo, President of the Club, and José Luis Pérez Caminero, the team’s Sporting Manager, presented the player from Malaga with the shirt that he will defend during the next three seasons.

Atlético’s new defender was very happy to have the opportunity to be in our Club. "Very happy, it’s been an important step in my career. My arrival to the changing room has been very good; players and coaching staff are very good and give you confidence from the first minute. And that, for someone who comes from outside, is very important", he commented.

The goal is to work every day and give it all for the Club

The Spaniard has stressed to the media the importance of continuing to fight for all the goals with the same mentality from other seasons. "My goal is to try to fight to earn my place, be able to play as many matches as possible provided it helps the team. Regarding the team, the coaching staff, the players, since they arrive they transmit the day-by-day and match-by-match work which is what leads to success", he said.

In reference to the Spanish Super Cup second leg match, which will take place this Friday at our Stadium, Gámez recalled that there’s no favourite team, but that Atlético will fight until the last second to win the first national title of the season. "It’s still a final, there are no favourites. We focus on our way of playing, we’re a very competitive team and we’ll fight the 90 minutes to win the title, in these matches there are no favourites", he declared.

Enrique Cerezo, President of the Club, wanted to welcome Jesús Gaméz emphasising that he’s a player who "comes to increase the internal competitiveness of the group" because it is "something that the Club is always looking for". He also pointed out that "Jesús brings us the maturity of an established player together with the possibility of a player who renews his hopes. His signing responds to the search of this balance".
