SECOND GOALKEEPER WITH THE MOST APPEARANCES FOR OUR CLUB

Jan Oblak reaches 250 games for Atleti

The Slovenian, who recently became the second goalkeeper with the most appearances in the club’s history, on Saturday reached the milestone against Alavés.

Jan Oblak played his 250th match for Atleti on Saturday as our team beat Alavés 2-1. The 27-year-old has reached the milestone just one week after equalling José Francisco Molina as the second goalkeeper with the most appearances in the club’s history.

Since his arrival in 2014, Oblak has consistently proven he’s one of the world’s best goalkeepers. Last year, the Slovenian signed a new contract at the club until 2023, and this season he became one of our captains.

In his six seasons in Madrid, Oblak has won a Spanish Super Cup title (2014), one Europa League (2017/18) and one UEFA Super Cup (2018). Morever, he made the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season in 2015/16 and 2016/17. He did the same the year after, as he was named the best goalkeeper in the Europa League. While at Atleti, the 27-year-old has won four straight Zamora Trophies (2015-2019).

Also, on June 17, the Slovenian kept his 100th LaLiga clean sheet during the match against Osasuna. It has only taken him 182 to do so.

Oblak continues to make history at our club. Now, only the legendary Abel Resino (303) has played more games than him.
