Our coach analysed the time he has been here before facing Villarreal in what will be his 200th match as Atlético's coach.
Against Villarreal, Simeone will reach his 200th match leading our first team and the Argentinian coach stressed the importance of reaching this number and what it has meant. “Since the day I arrived I imagined the best would happen, never less than what there is or more than what we have. I believe we're on a very good path, always depending on the coming match, and I think that stimuli had allowed us to be strong and reach that number of matches, which is enormous. I feel proud and identified with the choice I made when I came to the Club during a difficult time and completely thankful to all the players who have played these 200 matches because without them, the ideas and hopes we place on the coaching staff would not have been possible”, he said.
We face one of the best playing teams in Spain
Regarding this Wednesday's match, Simeone emphasised the virtues of a rival he expects to make things very difficult to win the three points. “I think it's one of the best playing teams in Spain, because it has a very definite personality in all the fixtures. It's always a pleasure to watch a team like that gusto. I hope we can play an important match and continue on the path we're on”, he concluded.
