Giménez: "Being at Atletico is a dream"
The Uruguayan centre back was one of the start of the under 20s world cup and was presented today at the VIP box with the presence of the president, Enrique Cerezo, and sporting director Jose Luis Perez Caminero.
Jose Maria Gimenez was presented on Wednesday as new player of Atletico Madrid. The Uruguayan, one of the stars of the under 20 World Championship in Turkey is proud to be part of the squad. "I'm very happy, it’s a dream," said Giménez on arrival at the club on the banks of the Manzanares.
Enrique Cerezo and Jose Luis Perez Caminero were responsible for welcoming the young player of 18 years of age. The youth international prmises to give his all for the club with his new shirt. "I like to fight for every ball as if it were the final minute. I’m never going to abandon ship and leave my teammates" he said.
Gimenez had words of praise for his compatriot and 'colleague' Diego Godin. "He is a true leader in the Uruguayan national side and I will try to learn from him. I’ve come here to grow," he said.
The President opened the ceremony held at the VIP Lounge of the Estadio Vicente Calderon. "He complies perfectly with the profile of player we are looking to shore up the team. We’ve incorporated international into our ranks and above all a defender will join a cast of proven quality defenders," said the president.
The Atletico chairman praised the new signings features. "He represents everything good about Uruguayans: character, strength and discipline," he said.
