Gabi joins the 400 club
Against Barcelona, Gabi played his 400th match for our club. He's the seventh player to reach this illustrious number.
Our captain Gabi Fernández defended our colours for the 400th time, after featuring in our 1-0 loss against Barcelona in the Camp Nou. After the match, he was given a celebratory shirt commemorating his 400 matches for Atlético de Madrid.
Gabi made his debut for our club on 21 January 2004 against Sevilla and has since then played 399 more matches to reach the illustrious number 400. Only six players have ever reached the distinguished 400 club: Adelardo Rodríguez, Tomás Reñones, Enrique Collar, Juan Carlos Aguilera, Isacio Calleja and Juan Carlos Arteche.
Our number '14' is also our player with the most UEFA appearances in the club's history, with 73 matches. As our captain, Gabi has lifted one Copa del Rey, one LaLiga and one Spanish Super Cup. one UEFA Europa League and one UEFA Super Cup.
