THE LOCKER ROOM CONDEMNS THE INCIDENTS PRIOR TO THE MATCH

Forceful condemnation of the red and white players

The red and white players regretted the incidents that took place in Madrid Rio hours before the match.

Juanfran attended the media after the match against Deportivo. The winger conveyed the sadness of the locker room for the events that took place in Madrid Rio hours before the match against Deportivo: "It’s unfortunate. I think it does not identify with Atlético de Madrid, I hope people don't think it is. They are people who, for me, are not in their right minds, they do things that are not normal. We are very sad."

Diego Godín joined the condemnation of Juanfran to such events: "Obviously, that kind of people don’t represent football or any of the teams. They are people who have to be eradicated from football and we want the necessary measures to be taken against those few," he said.

Diego Pablo Simeone, Atlético’s coach, expressed his wish that these incidents are never repeated: "We are very sad. They are situations that are not related to football, which we absolutely condemn from where we stand and hope that these kind of situations are not repeated and that they never happen again."

Lastly, Víctor Fernández, Deportivo’s coach, described the event as unfortunate: "Today is possibly one of the saddest days of Spanish football in recent years. It has been a reprehensible and despicable incident. I cannot understand life like this. Attend an event, a party which should be of brotherhood, joyful and to participate with your family. We know it has been a terrible and violent event, with a lot of participants and with very bad consequences."
