First challenge for a place in the final
We receive Athletic Club in the first leg of the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey this Wednesday 7 February at 9:30pm at the Cívitas Metropolitano.
Our home ground will host a third Copa del Rey fixture. After two unforgettable nights against Real Madrid (4-2) and Sevilla (1-0), added to the 1-3 win in Lugo back on 6 January, the Cívitas Metropolitano will be the setting for a great match between historic teams. The tie will be decided at San Mamés on Thursday 29 February at 9:30pm.
The match will be refereed by Alejandro Hernández Hernández, who will be assisted by Santiago Jaime Latre from the VAR. Athletic Club arrive after a 4-0 win against Mallorca at San Mamés last Friday, while our previous match was a 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabéu.
In cup competition, Athletic Club have beaten Eibar (0-3), Alavés (2-0) and FC Barcelona (4-2) in the last rounds. At home, the last time we faced them was in the first leg of the quarter-finals in 2014, in a match that ended 1-0 in our favour thanks to a goal from Godín at the Vicente Calderón. In the overall duel, we have won 44% of the games.
