Augusto: "Coming to such a big club seduced me from the beginning"
Augusto Fernández donned the red and white shirt for the first time at the Vicente Calderón. The new player was presented to the media by Enrique Cerezo and then took the field to receive the applause of the fans present.
Augusto Fernández noted, "My first impressions have served to corroborate what I saw from the outside, a team united, compact, as if it were a family and it’s what I have confirmed in the dressing room. It’s a very competitive and united group and that’s why Atlético is in the best places and I hope that's where we’ll stay."
As to whether Simeone was to blame for his arrival to Atlético de Madrid, Augusto replied, "When I was told about the possibility of coming here, I didn’t hesitate. The answer was automatic. The sporting challenge of coming to such as big club as Atlético seduced me from the beginning. And I held onto that. I see a club where I can contribute as much as I did in Vélez and Celta. I’m convinced that I’m going to do well. I knew the coach and his coaching staff and that added to the seductive sporting proposal of the club made sure I had no hesitations about coming."
