Atletico on song in Vienna
Indisputable and important victory for Atletico Madrid in Vienna against Austria Vienna. Two goals from Diego Costa and one of Raul Garcia put the finishing touches on a great match for Atletico. The third victory in the group stage of the Champions League.

A spectacular Atletico Madrid performance at the Ernst Happel Stadium. Atletico killed the game in the first 20 minutes and finished the job in the second half. Diego Costa, on his debut in the Champions League, scored two goals and Raul Garcia got the first.
Atletico Madrid came out in the Ernst Happel with clear ideas and aiming to win the third game of the group stage. Austria Vienna the stadium behind them with 50,000 dedicated fans from the beginning.
The ball was Atletico Madrid’s from the start and the chances too. The goals came early, making it clear who was going to conrol the game. Tiago and Gabi were bossing the midfield, the defense was impregnable and the attacking trio were great linking with Diego Costa who was simply spectacular.
The first warning came early. Within three minutes, Juanfran tested Lindner with a shot from the edge of the area but the keeper deflected it for a corner. It was the first warning of what was to come. With 7 minutes, a move that starts with Filipe Luis was passed to Diego Costa who found Koke. The midfielder sent a through ball to Filipe Luis like an arrow that found Raul Garcia who broke the deadlock.
The Ernst Happel was in shock and that got worse for the home side. Atletico wanted more and began to dominate. Lovely build up saw Tiago pass deep to Diego Costa, the Spanish-Brazilian showed his speed, dribbled past Ortlechner and put the bal in to the home net to double the lead.
At the break Simeone made a change bring off Filipe Luis and replacing him with Insua. The Argentine took part in the third goal playing the final pass to Diego Costa for the Spanish-Brazilian to score his second goal in his debut in the Champions League. Second goal, third for team sealed a major victory for Atletico in their return to the Champions League.
With 30 minutes left to play, Simeon brought on Cristian Rodriguez for Diego Costa and the team continued on the same line finishing off a good nights work. The win, coupled with Zenit beating Porto by 0-1, Atletico makes are leaders of their group with five points ahead of the Russians and six in front of the Portuguese.
