Atlético de Madrid play a practice match against Atlético B before a short vacation

Atlético de Madrid trained on the pitch where Atlético B play their home games and played a practice match against Antonio Rivas’ side to finish up the week’s work before taking a short break. The ‘rojiblancos’ will enjoy some time off as there are no La Liga fixtures this week due to the national team commitments.

Agüero, Mario Suárez and Koke didn’t start out with the rest of the group on the pitch, instead beginning with alternative work in the gym with Óscar Pitillas, physical trainer, and then taking the pitch afterward. The group began with a warm-up and then played a practice match against the reserve squad. Kun Agüero and Mario Suárez joined the game in the second half, while Koke did specific work with Pitillas.

Atlético B used two different teams of eleven to face the first squad, while Quique Sánchez Flores made some substitutions in the second half. Iago played as the first team goalkeeper, as Joel is with the Under-21s in France and De Gea is set to join the Under-21s for Tuesday’s fixture. Additionally, Perea is off with Colombia, Elías with Brazil, Joel and Fran Mérida with the Under-21s, and Godín and Forlán with Uruguay.

Atlético de Madrid played with: Iago; Valera, Ujfalusi, Domínguez, Filipe Luis; Raúl García, Tiago, Assunçao, Juanfran;  Reyes and Diego Costa. Atlético B lined up: Celso; Regalón, Pulido, Javi Cantero, Antonio López; Joseph, Atienza, Sergio Marcos, Noguera; Batres and Borja. In the second half the first team’s line-up was: Iago; Valera, Ujfalusi, Domínguez, Antonio López; Mario Suárez, Tiago, Assunçao, Raúl García; Kun and Diego Costa. Later, Reyes came on for Tiago. And in the reserves were: Celso; Roberto, Llorián, Míchel, Filipe Luis; Juanfran, Hermosa (Fer), Mínguez, Ndoye (Gallegos); Vítor and Jarju.

The first team won 4-0 with two goals from Diego Costa, one from Valera and the last by Domínguez. The ‘rojiblancos’ wrapped up the week with an hour-and-a-half session, and afterwards, the players headed off for three days or rest. The squad will return to work on Monday 28 at 5 pm.
