Atlético de Madrid and FC Barcelona will wear t-shirts in favour of the refugees

This Saturday, the starting players of both teams will go out on the grass of the Vicente Calderón asking the fans from around the world to help ease the drama that the displaced people are living.

The players of Atlético de Madrid and FC Barcelona will enter the pitch of the Vicente Calderón stadium this Saturday wearing special t-shirts in favour of the thousands of refugees who have left their countries in the Middle East, escaping from death and destruction. The foundations of both clubs have joined the initiative to raise funds for the UNHCR Spanish Committee and will encourage the world’s football fans who will follow this match on television to cooperate within their needs to ease the terrible difficulties that thousands of people are going through. The players will take the field with the t-shirts and, after the usual greeting; both teams will pose for the printed media with the message ‘Help the refugees.’

On the other hand, Atlético Madrid’s Foundation and the Spanish Committee of UNHCR will carry out other complementary actions in the stadium. An explanatory video of the situation of the refugees and how to collaborate on www.ayudasiria.org will be broadcasted on the electronic scoreboards of the Vicente Calderón. In addition, volunteers of the UNHCR Spanish Committee will be distributed in different parts of the stadium to offer fans that are at the match the possibility of cooperating with a direct contribution to assist the refugees.
