Atlético de Kolkata, win and lead
Two goals at the start of each time, one by Izumi and another by Javi Lara, were enough to secure the win at home against Kerala Blasters. Dagnall shortened distances at the end. A great Calatayud put a stop to the yellow attacks.
Atlético de Kolkata premiered at home, in a packed Salt Lake Stadium, with a win against Kerala Blasters, the rival it beat in the Indian Super League final last December. The start could not be better. Just before the 6th minute, Asata Izumi caught in the box a cleared ball from the goalkeeper of Kerala to a drive from Hume, to put our team ahead.
After the break, a good individual play by Javi Lara ended in a low and well-placed shot that was too fast for the stretch of the visiting goalkeeper on 53 minutes. The game was under control until Dagnall scored the 2-1 in minute 81. From then on, Kerala launched an all-out attack but found an immense Calatayud, making three saves of merit in the final stretch of the fixture. Second red and white win in the Indian Super League, as well as continuing unbeaten and leading with 7 points.
