Atlético beat Alcalá thanks to a goal from Pedro (0-1)

Atlético de Madrid returned to Madrid after 11 days of pre-season training in Los Angeles de San Rafael to face Alcalá in El Val. A goal from Pedro in the 77th minute was the difference between the two sides. Manzano handed out minutes to many players following the plan of the coaching staff to get them all in the best possible condition  for the first game in the Europa League on 28th of July at the Calderón. The rojiblancos starting with Joel, Valera, Miranda, Domínguez, Antonio López, Gabi, Assuncao, Raúl García, Reyes, Juanfran and Diego Costa. The Brazilian defender, presented on Tuesday at the Calderon, made a good debut with Atlético. After the meeting, his coach evaluating his debut positivly: 'He will be a great defender.' It took only 9 minutes in to the first half for Reyes to leave his stamp on proceedings in one of the most spectacular moves of the game. The boy from Seville collected the ball in his own half  before using his speed to reach the edge of the area assiting Diego Costa who smashed the ball against the crossbar. His speed is well above what one would expect at this stage of the season and during his time in the field he made a big differences. Atlético threaterned, but did not undo Alcalá with the sides going in to the break at 0-0. Manzano made five changes at the break. Miranda, Domínguez, Raúl García, Antonio López and Valera were replaced by Regalón, Ortiz, Silvio, Fran Mérida and Filipem The Brazilian winger was quickly in to the action and his pass sailed across the goal line in a cross shot in the 82nd minute and he almost got on the score sheet in the 84th. The team pressed more after the goal of Pedro. The academy graduate, who come on in the 72nd minute along with Salvio and Collado in place of Juanfran Reyes and Diego Costa was on the end of a great bit of play by Toto down the left beat goalkeeper with his left foot. The second of preseason for Pedro who was on the scoresheet  on Thursday in Segovia.. The introduction of Manquillo, Noguera  and Mario Suarez coincided with the best chances for the team. The former Mallorca midfielder, returned to the pitch after over a month and a half out to the delight of the the team. The only scare of the game came when Silvio had to come of as a precaution. 'I don’t think it's anything important' said Manzano after the game. The squad will return to training on Monday at 18:30 in Majadahonda.
