Advantage for the second leg

Atlético de Madrid wins an important match in the first leg of the King’s Cup quarter-finals against Eibar. Griezmann, Correa and Gameiro scored the goals. Next Wednesday, the second leg at Ipurua.

Atlético de Madrid: Moyá; Juanfran, Giménez, Savic, Filipe Luis; Koke, Saúl, Nico Gaitán (Godín, 76’), Carrasco (Gabi, 66’); Correa (Gameiro, 62’) and Griezmann.

Eibar: Yoel; Capa, Gálvez, Lejeune, Rubén Peña; Escalante (Sarriegi, 74’), Rivera; Inui (Luna, 65’), Fran Rico, Bebé; and Adrián (Enrich, 65’).

Referee: Mateu Lahoz (Committee from Valencia). Booked the home player Saúl (63’); and the visiting Escalante (27’), Fran Rico (67’) and Gálvez (85’).

1-0. 28’. Griezmann pushes the ball into the net after Giménez heads in a foul kicked by Koke.
2-0. 60’. Correa scores from the box after Gálvez clears a shot from Carrasco.
3-0. 68’. Gameiro heads another header from Griezmann.

Typical Cup match, with an Atlético that took the initiative and an Eibar that was trying to surprise in the counterattack. After a couple of warnings to the goal defended by Yoel, a goal was disallowed for an offside by Savic. A little later, in a set piece play, Griezmann opened the score after taking advantage of a header from Giménez to Koke's cross.

In the second half, Atlético was trying to have a bigger advantage for the second leg. Thus, in only eight minutes, Correa and Gameiro increased the advantage with two goals that knocked out the away team. Atlético continued attacking trying to increase its advantage for the second leg. On Wednesday, at Ipurua, the second and final match of these King’s Cup quarter-finals.
