Rodrigo: "I'm going to give it my all for this shirt"

Rodrigo is back home. In his presentation at the Wanda Metropolitano, our newest midfielder was officially presented as an Atlético player.

This Friday in the Wanda Metropolitano's auditorium, Rodrigo Hernández was officially presented as a new Atlético player. The midfielder who played many years in our academy was welcomed by club president Enrique Cerezo, Miguel Ángel Gil, club CEO, Clemente Villaverde, club director.

Enrique Cerezo was delighted to welcome Rodrigo back home.

"It's a great satisfaction to welcome a footballer who grew up in our academy and is now coming back to the club as a new member of the first team," he said. "At just 22 years old, Rodrigo has shown he's an extraordinarily talented midfielder who's ready to take on the challenges our team will fight for this season."

Enrique Cerezo also confirmed Rodrigo will wear the illustrious number '14', previously worn by legends of our club such as Gabi and Diego Pablo Simeone himself.

Rodrigo thanked the president's kind words and spoke about his coming home.

"Im super happy. I always wanted to come back. When the opportunity arose, it didn’t take long for me to make my decision. I’m grateful to Atletico de Madrid. I’m going to give it my all for this shirt ," he said. "Simeone wore the number '14' and now he’s coaching me. I’m excited. It’s an important number for the club and I know what it represents."

He's excited to make a dream of his come true.

"I want to step out on the pitch with this shirt," he said. "This is a dream come true."
