This summer, Atlético de Madrid will participate in the 2018 International Champions Cup, the sixth edition of this prestigious pre-season tournament organized by Relevent Sports.
In two simultaneous events in Singapore an Miami, the International Champions Cup announced the calendar for the 2018 edition. Our team will face Paris Saint Germain, Arsenal and Inter Milan.
Our matches against Arsenal and PSG will be played at the Singapore National Stadium on 26 and 30 July. On the other hand, the Wanda Metropolitano will host the match against Inter on 12 August. It’ll be the first-ever International Champions Cup game hosted in our stadium.
The rules for the 2018 edition of the tournament have changed and instead of having multiple winners, this year’s competitive structure will take on a more cohesive format, reigning one overall global champion.
Each team will play three matches, and the club with the most points at the end of the tournament will be crowned champion. Each win in 90 minutes will result in three points and a tie will go straight to a penalty shootout; the winning team in the penalties round will receive two points and the losing team will receive one.
This will be the second time our team participates in the International Champions League, after taking part in the 2016 edition in Australia and facing Tottenham Hotspur and Melbourne Victory.
Pre-sale tickets will be available on May 9, 2018. Fans can sign up on the International Champions Cup website for access to the pre-sale.
