TRIBUTE TO OUR FOOTBALL PLAYERS AT THE WANDA METROPOLITANO

The installation of the plaques of the Walk of Legends begins

The installation of 159 plaques in honour of the players who have played 100 or more official matches with our shirt begins in front of the main façade.

The football players are always the main figures on the pitch, but at the Wanda Metropolitano, they will also be so outside the rectangular patch of grass. Today, on the floor in front of the main façade, has begun the installation of the plaques of the Walk of Legends, a tribute to 159 players who have played 100 or more official matches with the club.

When the Atléticos approach the Wanda Metropolitano from the west next September 16th, they will do so walking along a very special space reserved to those players who have defended our colours more times. A way of remembering the idols of different generations since the club’s founding.

The stainless-steel surfaces in honour of every player includes their complete and shirt name, the seasons that they played with the first team and the number of matches that they played with our shirt. At the head of all of them, Adelardo, the football player who has defended the red and white colours more times, with 553 fixtures.

The current first team will also be represented. Up to 9 members of the team will have a plaque. Oblak, Godín, Filipe, Juanfran, Koke, Saúl, Gabi, Griezmann or Torres have already surpassed the hundred games. Giménez and Carrasco can be the next ones. Another stimulus to continue making history with our colours.
