Villa and Diego Costa join the supports club party
Atletico Madrid won their sixth straight game at the Vicente Calderon against Athletic Bilbao. From the start, the red and whites took control of a game and Villa and Diego Costa marked the differences with two goals . Simeone's team marches on.

The Vicente Calderon was looking at its best for the big game between Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao for the 5 pm kick,, a full house awaited the players they ran out on the the pitch. Spurred by the fans Atletico Madrid came out true to their style of play, putting pressure on the ball conbined with fast attacks on the goal defended by Gorka Iraizoz. In one of those, Villa after 8 minutes had the first clear chance after a great cross from Diego Costa .
After the first half hour of the match, Villa opened the scoring getting his sixth goal in the league. Juanfran reached the line and pt in an excellent cross for Diego Costa. The Spanish-Brazilian could not finish but the rebound came to the umber 9 who finished with exquisite volleyed.
Just before the end of the first half, Diego Costa showed his great goal scoring form. In one of his constant runs, the top scorer of the competition was played in by Koke, who spilt the Basques defence. The marksman made no mistake and doubled his sides lead just before the break sending his side in with a 2-0 advantage at the break.
After the interval, Atletico Madrid came back out and followed the same script with the first half ended . Filipe and Juanfran were dangerous down the flanks and Villa and Adrian were unlucky not to add the third.
Athletic Bilbao seemed overwhelmed by the dominance in all facets of the game of Atletico Madrid. Moved by an unquestioning faith in their work, Atletico went about their business, constantly attacking and destroying any thoughts of a comeback from Ernesto Valverde’s men.
The festival of football on the field spilt over in o the stands. The Vicente Calderon was rocking and Raul Garcia almost made it 3-0 but it wasn’t to be. Atletico Madrid ended a perfect week with three wins in three matches. The squad are back in Champions League action for the game against Austria in Vienna, on Wednesday at 20:45.
