Fernando Torres: "I'm happy to have scored"

Our goalscorer spoke to the press after our 1-0 win against Alavés.

Fernando Torres spoke to the press after our 1-0 win against Alavés in our last home game of the year.

"We knew it was important to get the win," Torres said. "We're playing well and we have to keep it up. Alavés played an intelligent match. They defended well and it was difficult for us to create chances."

Torres came on in the second half and scored the only goal of the night, his first LaLiga goal this season, in the 74th minute.

"I'm happy to have scored. Whenever you score, you feel like you've made your coach proud."

Lastly, 'El Niño' spoke about the fans and our final game of the year in the Wanda Metropolitano.

"They [the fans] know we need them in order to have the same atmosphere we had in the Vicente Calderón," he continued. "This is our new home and we have to fill it up with trophies and wins."
