THE BELGIAN HAS KEPT 28 CLEAN SHEETS

There is no stopping Thibaut Courtois

Thibaut Courtois is making headlines for his special performances. The Atletico goalkeeper is the goalkeeper that has kept the most clean sheets in Europe. He is also only 17 minutes away from beating goalkeeper Abel Resino to the record of most minutes without conceding away from home.

Without doubt, the Belgian Atletico Madrid goalkeeper is extending his great season in the rojiblanco goal. Against Real Sociedad earlier this season, he broke a record that Resino had set as Atletico goalkeeper with the most minutes without conceding a goal, that was set in the 1990 / 1991 season at the Vicente Calderon, Thibaut Courtois has become the keeper in all European leagues with the most clean sheets in 2012-2013. Behind him are the likes of Neuer, Sirigu and Buffon.

Courtois has played 47 official matches this season in which he has conceded only 30 goals. His ratio of goals conceded per game played is 0.65, a percentage that reflects his great season. The figures must also be credited to the great defense that Diego Pablo Simeone has put together.

Even more, in today's game against Deportivo, Thibaut Courtois became the second goalkeeper in the history of Atletico Madrid, after beating Molina (543 minutes), to not concede away from home for 597 minutes straight. The record, of 23 years, still belongs to Resino, who went 613 minutes without conceding a goal away from home. If the Belgian goalkeeper doesn’t concede during the first 17 minutes in the next league game against Celta Vigo, he will become the best goalkeeper in the history of Atletico to keep clean sheets outside the Vicente Calderon stadium.

His great figures see him lead the fight for the Zamora with 25 goals conceded in 32 league games (0.78) ahead of Willy Caballero the Malaga goalkeeper who has conceded 34 goals in 32 games (1.07).
