The Wanda Metropolitano is ready to host its first-ever international match
Our stadium is ready to host its first-ever international match as Spain will face Argentina at 9:30 p.m. CET.
At 9:30 p.m. CET, the Wanda Metropolitano will host its first-ever international match as Spain will face Argentina. Ever since its inauguration on 16 September, our stadium has been making strides and in 2019 the Wanda Metropolitano will host the UEFA Champions League Final.
The Wanda Metropolitano’s roof consists of a 46,500 square meters of fiberglass and polytetrafluoroethylene surface, placed at a maximum level of 57 meters on the pitch. The stadium is peculiar since it isn’t horizontal, but instead has different heights which give it a wave-like look, something very iconic and spectacular. The Wanda Metropolitano seats roughly 68,000 fans.
Beyond its use as a sporting venue, the Wanda Metropolitano is designed to accommodate all types of events and business meetings. The stadium has more than 11,000 square meters dedicated to hosting conferences and events of all kinds. It has also taken steps to be environmentally friendly and energy efficient. The design of the stadium will contribute to the improvement of energy efficiency and the reduction of CO2 emissions through the use of LED lighting, optimization of the air conditioning system and the use of solar energy to heat up water.
Also, during 'Semana Santa' the Wanda Metropolitano will be open to the public. Make sure to take a tour of our stadium!
When you tour the Wanda Metropolitano, you'll walk through the tunnel, check out the pitch, stands, mixed zone, auditorium, dressing rooms and the trophy room! Don't forget that 'infantil' and 'benjamin' club members can do the tour for free! With the Wanda Metropolitano Tour, youngsters and adults will have a blast as they explore our new home.
