The start of the 2013/14 Champions League

This Thursday will see the draw for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League. The draw for the first round of the competition in which we meet our first three opponents of the European continent 's showpiece . You can follow the draw from 18.00 hours on our Twitter (@ Atleti ) as well as on Canal + and TVE.

Monaco lifts the curtain on the UEFA Champions League 2013/2014. The old continent 's showpiece will get underway on Thursday with the draw to decide the composition of the eight groups that make up the first phase to be disputed between the months of September and December. A special competition to which we return after the third place in the league.

The draw , which pairs four teams in each group, from A to H , will begin at 18.00 and can be followed live on our Twitter (@ Atleti ) , as well as Canal + and Teledeporte. The teams are separated in to four pots and no team can play against their own country until the quarter-finals:

Pot 1 : Bayern Munich , Barcelona , Chelsea, R. Madrid , Manchester United, Arsenal , Porto, Benfica .
Pot 2 : Atletico Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk , AC Milan , Schalke 04 , Olympique Marseillaise , CSKA Moscow, PSG and Juventus .
Pot 3 : Zenit St Petersburg , Manchester City, Ajax , Borussia Dortmundd , Basel , Olympiakos , Galatasaray , Bayer Leverkusen .
Pot 4 : Copenhagen, Naples, Anderlecht , Steaua , Austria Vienna, R. Society , Celtic and Viktoria Plzen .

The Stadium of Light in Lisbon awaits the two finalists. The champion will be crowned on May 24th 2014 . Many months of hard work and competition in its first phase played on the following days:

Round 5 | 26-27/11/13
Round 6 | 10-11/12/13

These duels will decide the 16 teams that will qualify for the knockout stages. The top two teams from each group enter the draw to establish who will progress while the third team will qualify for the UEFA Europa League.
