The ‘rojiblanco’ players, happy about the good match and important win

Mario: “We played a good game and could have scored more goals”

The ‘rojiblanco’ players appeared satisfied with their performance against Osasuna in a match that made their supporters cheer with excitement at Estadio Vicente Calderón. Forlán, who scored two goals, and Mario Suárez and Valera, who all stood out in the clash against the side from Navarre, were those who spoke to the media in the mixed zone after the encounter.

Diego Forlán got back in touch with the goal with a brace, and also assisted Agüero on the team’s second goal. “We did a good job and in the end the fruit came. Kun and I have been playing together for a while and you can tell that. In this match, fortunately, I was able to score two goals and play a good game. I never got nervous. I didn’t pay attention to the comments people were making. I wanted to score but I had to keep working. It was a matter of one going in and in this match two went in. I didn’t know that I’d scored 125 goals with Atleti. Hopefully I can keep scoring more goals. When the manager speaks well about a player and he’s a person who knows his football, you remember those things. Earning the three points in this game was crucial and I’m very happy because the team played a good match.”

Mario Suárez played a solid all-around match and the only thing missing was a goal to round things off. “I’m happy, things went well for me in this match. I’ve always said that my hopes were to be a starter in Atlético de Madrid. I have to take advantage of the chances given to me by the manager. I work hard during the week so that when I play I’m not out of tune. I’ve played two games and when I get to 20 I’ll have won the spot. It’s always nice for the coach to speak well of you. This was a very important match for us, we played a good game and could have scored more goals. Forlán is our goal-scorer and today he notched two and could have put in another.”

Juan Valera also played a good match against Osasuna. The ‘rojiblanco’ right back said that “I’m pleased because it was a tough match and we earned a good win. We couldn’t slip up. Osasuna is a team that closes down well. We knew that Diego’s goal was going to come. I think he’s been playing as he always has but strikers live off of goals. He’s never stopped working in training sessions as usual and we’re happy for him for having scored two goals. Perhaps we could have scored more in the first half. The team was really focused and it’s difficult for any team to take points away from us at the Calderón when we play like that.
