The Golden Boot arrives at The Calderón

This summers Under 21 European Champion. Top scorer in the tournament with five goals

Adrian Lopez, European Under 21 Golden Boot arrives at the Vicente Calderon as one of the most promising forward players in Europe. His five goals in the tournament this summer in Denmark played a big part in the Spanish national teams victory. The careers of stars like Andrea Pirlo and Alberto Gilardino, who once received the same trophy for top scorer, predict that the best is yet to come from the young Spaniard. In the Under 20s world cp in 2007 he received the silver boot after scoring five goals in a tournament in which Spain made it to the semifinals, but the Asturian did not go unnoticed. The same talent that allowed him to excel in international events led him to make his debut with Real Oviedo at only 17 years old. Since then he has been able to experience the best and worst of football. After being signed for Deportivo, he was loaned out to Alaves and Malaga before returning to the team of La Coruna with which, despite scoring 12 goals last season, he experienced relegation to the second division. His extensive experience despite his youth make the Asturian a mature player. Now Mario Suarez, a teammate in the Under 21s, is clear that the international can contribute alot to Atlético. 'It's a great signing. Adrian is a great player with great speed in and high quality. He brings many positive things,' he said. The ‘killer’ of the under 21s already has support in the dugout. Luis Filipe has nothing but praise for the new Atlético player. 'He's a great player and I have no words to describe him as a person. He's a star and a team player,' he added. The arrival of a player with an innate eye for goal, who strikes the ball well with both feet, who can get in behind the opponent, and is lethal in the area, has demonstrated his quality both at Deprtivo and in the different categories of the national team with which he has participated.
