Atlético de Madrid will donate 50,000 euros to the victims of the earthquake that took place in Mexico. For many years, the club has had a special relationship with the Mexican people, whom we have visited many times and where we have multitude of fans and friends. In addition, the relation is even more special thanks to our sister club, Atlético de San Luis. This is why, Atlético wants to show its solidarity with Mexico at these difficult times, in which we want to be close the relatives and friends of all the victims of the earthquake.
The match against Sevilla served as a reminder to the victims of the earthquake suffered in Mexico this week. The tricolored Mexican flag was showcased before the match on the LED curtain of the west façade, on the ribbon board and the video scoreboards in the moments before the beginning of the fixture. Just before the initial whistle, both teams and the referees posed with the #FuerzaMéxico poster. A minute’s silence was observed, in which the Wanda Metropolitano showed its respect for the Mexican people.
