ATLÉTICO AND BASAKSEHIR WILL DEVELOP A TRAINING PROJECT IN INSTANBUL

The Academy will arrive to Turkey

Club Atlético de Madrid and FK Basaksehir, Istanbul’s team that plays in the Turkish First Division, have laid the groundwork for an agreement to jointly develop an Academy project in the capital of the Bosphorus.

Within the international expansion plan of the Club, Turkey is one of the markets of strategic interest to the Club, so Atlético de Madrid named FK Basaksehir as a partner to collaborate with on a program aimed at training the youth.

Atlético de Madrid is very well-known in Turkey thanks to Arda Turan, our best possible ambassador

Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, CEO

In this regard, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, CEO, said that "Atlético de Madrid is very well-known in Turkey thanks to Arda Turan, our best possible ambassador. With the creation of an academy where young Turkish talents can perfect their integral development as footballers with our model, we expect our image brand to continue to grow in this country."

Peter Kenyon, consultant of our Club, accompanied the CEO of Atlético de Madrid in Istanbul.

After reaching this agreement at a meeting attended by the top leaders of both entities, in the coming weeks, both parties will work on a specific plan to develop the project, following Atlético’s designed model to implement Academies in foreign countries and based on the structure that the Turkish club already has.

This project related to the training of young players will also serve as a strategic tool to generate a number of interesting business and commercial opportunities for both parties.
