The academy featured heavily in Monday's session
Diego Pablo Simeone designed a training session without those who started against Sevilla. Although Courtois did work with the group throughout the session. The academy players were the highlight of the session with 10 players from Atletico B and Athletic C, plus Manquillo, Saul and Óliver.
The first session of the week lasted an hour and 15 minutes, time in which the ball was the main character. Arda Turan and Tiago didn’t train as they continue with the recovery process from injury. 10 players from the youth team joined the session plus the usual Manquillo Saul and Óliver. Tiri, Borja Mongil and Galán, from Atletico B and Dani Marquez, Jesus, Astray, Glory, Ian, Alex Diaz and Coke from Atletico C.
The group started with a ball control and touch exercise while the kids did a rondo and the keepers performed specific work with Pablo Vercellone. Then mini games in confined space with the three keepers rotating.
The training continued with a larger game of eight against eight in which the intensity was high at all times. The first team was made up of Courtois, Mongil, Alex Diaz, Tiri, Ian, Coke, Glory and Borja Galan and the other team was made up of Asenjo, Cata Diaz, Adrian, Insua, Saul, Óliver, Schism and Raul Garcia.
