Ten years, ten moments
Tuesday May 28th is a special day for the President of Atletico Madrid, he celebrates 10 years in office.
Enrique Cerezo will complete ten years as president of Atletico Madrid on Tuesday May 28. Since his arrival in 2003, he has been featured many times in the history of the club.
1. THE ARRIVAL TO THE PRESIDENCY.
"I’ve been at Atletico Madrid a long time and to become president is the highlight of my career. It was a very special moment and I lived it with emotion".
2. GOODBYE TO JESUS GIL.
"It was sad and painful for everyone. Jesus was a person who has fought hard for this club, he has given everything and his loss was a blow to all those who were close to him."
3. FERNANDO TORRES PROGRESS.
"The departure of Fernando was hard because of what he meant for the club and the fans. His departure was taken by mutual agreement and was mutually beneficial. We live in a difficult time, but it was the way to grow for both."
4. SIMAO LEAVES.
"He was an outstanding player and a very dear person in the club. He had a personal feeling towards him and it was a very emotional farewell. The departure of a player is always painful and hurts."
5. THE CONQUEST OF THE FOUR INTERNATIONAL TITLES.
"The truth is that all the titles you live differently, but in a special way. It is clear that after going a long time without winning a title, to be champion of the first edition of the Europa League in Hamburg and then in Monaco for the Super Cup it was an explosion of tremendous joy. But from all the titles everyone has taken something special."
6. THE FINAL OF COPA DEL REY 2010 IN BARCELONA.
"It was exciting for the reaction of the people despite the defeat. The final stage was impressive, it was a sight to see so many fans. The Camp Nou became a magnificent setting for and it would have been wonderful to win. The effort made by people to travel to Barcelona was great, they accompanied the team and the reaction I had after the match was magnificent. We lost the final but morally we won."
7. THE ARRIVAL OF SIMEONE.
"He was an institution as a player and as a coach has shown that. We all knew that at some point he would coach Atletico Madrid. The circumstances of his arrival marked a shock not only for the team, but also for the fans. He's created a fighting team that does not give in."
8. CHAMPIONS OF COPA DEL REY 2013.
"After many years without a win against Real Madrid, winning the Copa del Rey at the Santiago Bernabeu was awesome. We played a great game, and we returned to thrill to the fans and the reaction of people when we visited the Community of Madrid, the city hall and especially Neptune was fantastic".
9. INSTITUTION.
"I think that Atletico Madrid is a globally recognized club. All clubs have valued and value everything that Atletico Madrid has done, now more so after the conquest of the latest titles."

10. THE NEW STADIUM AND SPORTS CITY PROJECT
