THE ARGENTINIAN ASSURED THE TEAM WAS LEVEL-HEADED TO MAKE THE MATCH

Simeone: “We only depend on ourselves”

Diego Pablo Simeone qualified the victory against Villareal as “important” due to the difficulties of a match where the stands “appeared” to give the team “strength and energy” at the end of the match.

The Atlético coach started analysing the match. “We’ve suffered more for the result than for the Villarreal’s chances to score. We’ve been making a huge effort, incredibly so, I can’t find the words to keep congratulating the players’ effort and compromise. Today’s was a complicated match and we achieved an important victory".

The Atlético supporters were key in their team’s win, as was confirmed by Diego Pablo, “The atmosphere resounds and that empowers and gives you energy, it gives you more strength to compete. Today, Atletico’s people came. When people ask why we follow the team, this is the reason. We are passion, work, humility and if we have to suffer, we do”.

The support of our people is very important to us, it gives us energy and strength

Regarding Adrián’s return to the team, the Argentinian mentioned, “Adrián is a player who, at the end of this League’s, can give us what we need. Today he showed up with attitude and intention. The staff loves him and his teammates need him. Hopefully he can lend us a hand, because we need it”.

The team was level-headed in the final moments of the game, something crucial for their triumph. “At the end we were tired, which is normal. The strength and energy we had in previous occasions were not there, but the team was level-headed, and that made up for the lack of energy to make the match”. From now until the end, Simeone admitted, “I can’t imagine an easy game seeing what’s ahead of us. Getafe and Elche, Málaga with their needs, Valencia and Levante with things they have to solve and you know about the last one”, he ended.
