Diego Pablo Simeone analysed the match against Real Madrid (2-2) at press conference, "We’re pleased. We proposed an intelligent game with two fast strikers such as Griezmann and Torres and just as the two halves started, the two goals arrived. In the first half, we suffered a little bit more but in the second half, a very good game was played."

The Argentinian coach said that "I would highlight the collective work. Without work there are no individual responses.” The Atlético coach analysed the match lived at the Santiago Bernabéu: "There were stages in the first half where Madrid controlled the ball better. In the second half we talked a bit and tried to tell them that when we went to the opposite half, there were more gaps. And when Arda entered, who has the ability to play like that, it became even easier to have the ball."

Fernando Torres, author of our team’s two goals, was one of the stars of the game: "I met him when he was very young. He was a kid, too young for everything that was happening to him. He responded very well, went away, grew up, and today he's a man. I am very happy for him and for all the people who went to the Calderon to welcome him the other day. It’s in games like today’s in which a major player, loved and respected as he is, responds the way that he did."
