AFTER THE MADRID DERBY AGAINST LEGANÉS

Simeone: "The second half represented the game we wanted to play"

Simeone, Saúl and Lucas Hernandez spoke following our team's 1-1 draw at Butarque against Leganés.

Simeone on Saturday said that our team had played well in the second half against Leganés.

“In the first half we didn't play how we wanted to, but we did in the second half. I think that the second half represented the game we wanted to play. In the second half, we wanted to have players on the pitch who could dribble. Gelson had played well and scored a goal in the Copa del Rey. We have a lot of confidence in our players, and they know it and are ready to play," our coach said.

Saúl agreed that the team had played better in the second half.

"In the first half we tried to do more complicated things, whereas in the second half we were more direct. Leganés played very well and we have to congratulate them. We leave with a bittersweet feeling," the Spanish midfielder said.

Lucas Hernandez claimed that Butarque was a very difficult stadium.

"This stadium is complicated, the fans make a lot of noise and their players are very intense. We managed to take the lead thanks to an incredible goal by Antoine, but they managed to equalise from a set piece," our defender said.
